Teen Behind $243M Bitcoin Heist Exposed Himself on Livestream

In August 2024, the crypto world was rocked by a shocking heist: $243 million worth of Bitcoin was stolen from a single Gemini account. The brains behind the operation? Three teenagers, led by 19-year-old Veer Chetal — a.k.a. “Wiz.” They pulled off a high-level social engineering attack, but their overconfidence would soon betray them.

This story isn’t just about cybercrime. It’s a cautionary tale for crypto users everywhere — especially those in high-risk environments like crypto casinos.

How the Heist Unfolded 💻📞

The scammers impersonated Google and Gemini support through spoofed calls, convincing the victim to disable 2FA and install AnyDesk. That’s when the teens captured the victim’s Bitcoin private key, draining the wallet of 4,100 BTC.

Each teen played a role:

  • Chetal accessed Gmail and iCloud.

  • Lam hunted for sensitive info.

  • Serrano posed as the fake support rep.

By August 19, the wallet was empty.

The Mistake That Brought Them Down ⚠️

What seemed like a perfect crime began to unravel fast.

Crypto investigator ZachXBT traced the transactions and exposed the trio — with unexpected help from the thieves themselves. They recorded their reactions to receiving the stolen funds and accidentally revealed their real names on the livestream.

Chetal even appeared on screen while gambling away millions in ETH, flashing luxury watches and sports cars — bought with stolen crypto.

Second Scam While on Bail 🎭

Even after pleading guilty and surrendering $36M in assets, Chetal struck again. While released on bond, he scammed another victim for $2 million, once again posing as tech support.

This time, his VPN failed. The real IP address led straight to his New Jersey home. Court records revealed he gambled away $200,000 of the funds in just nine minutes.

Crypto Crime Is Evolving. Are You Protected? 🔐

This case shows just how easily young, tech-savvy individuals can dive into digital crime. The tools are out there. The targets? Anyone with a hot wallet — especially crypto casino players, who often use fast, unverified platforms.

Parents, players, and crypto holders alike must stay alert:

  • Never share seed phrases

  • Use hardware wallets when possible

  • Stay suspicious of unsolicited support calls

Stay Safe. Stay Smart. Stay Ahead 🛡️

As crypto adoption grows, so does the risk of scams. Whether you’re playing for fun on a crypto casino or managing serious assets, one careless click can cost you everything.
